VBS 2024 is coming! Ministry is done through teamwork. We need every set of hands we can get to help with this year's VBS. We will never have too much help! We will make every effort to place you in a role where you are comfortable, where you can use your gifts and make a difference in this ministry. Please review all information below and complete this volunteer form if you feel called to help with this year's event. Training will take place prior to the event.
PLEASE NOTE: Any volunteer who has not already completed and passed a background check to work in children's ministry will need to do so prior to this event.
Dates: June 24 - 28, 2024
Time: 6:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Theme: "Keepers of the Kingdom" - The Armor of God
Goal: YCC's goal for this year's Vacation Bible School is to teach the children how to arm themselves with the power of Christ and defend themselves from the temptations of today's world. We believe that if they secure their love for Jesus at a young age, it will last a lifetime!
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Prayer Team: We ask that the VBS prayer team be in prayer for the children, families, community and volunteers participating in this event. This can be done individually or in a group setting. We ask that some prayer team volunteers be present during the VBS event to offer prayers as needed. This is a great way to volunteer to help this ministry even if you feel your talents may not be geared specifically towards children's ministry.
- Decorating: There will be LOTS of decorating needed. Every space in our facility will need decor. If you are crafty and creative, we need you! We also need people who can paint and possibly build simple structures. We'll need our decorating team to start gathering things like cardboard boxes, paint supplies, craft paper and anything else you can think of that will help!
- Registration/Check In/Check Out: If you have Administrative skills, this may be the area for you! This team will be responsible for creating the registration information from our Google Registration Form as well as work the Check In and Check Out tables at the VBS event.
- Child Care: We need to offer infant/toddler child care for our volunteers and families who need this service. It will take place in our current Infant/Toddler room. I hope to have enough volunteers in this area where we can create a rotation throughout the week, possibly paired with a Youth that can help in this area as well.
- Crafts: This is always a fun area to work in! If you're crafty and can give instruction clearly and patiently, this may be the area for you! We will likely have a few Youth working this station as well to help out the kids. All craft supplies will be provided.
- Lessons/Story Time: I feel that this is the most important area of VBS. This is where the children will learn the tools and resources needed to put on the armor of God and defend themselves from the temptations of this world . If you feel comfortable teaching lessons or if you're an interactive story teller, this is the area for you!
- Games: OK guys, we need some super energetic volunteers to head up our games this year! The plan is to have games outside each day, weather permitting. We will definitely have some Youth volunteers placed in this area as well. We need to be prepared for games to be geared toward our Pre-K/Kindergarten kids and our 1st - 5th graders, separately.
- Missions: Volunteers in our Missions area will help teach the children about mission opportunities locally and around the world.
- Music: This area is so much fun! You will assist our music leaders to teach the kids our daily songs and motions. Music helps to reinforce the daily lessons and the kids have a GREAT time singing and dancing all week long!
- Site Rotation/Hall Monitors: These volunteers will be responsible for walking the different groups from one site to the next as well as staying in the hallways in case we have any escapees. Our facility is small, so this shouldn't be too difficult but it is still a great way to volunteer for this ministry!
Thank you for prayerfully considering to volunteer for this year's VBS! Please reach out to me with any questions. There will be MUCH MORE information in the near future as well as Volunteer Training dates as get closer to June.
