In 2009, The Bayou Church saw a need in the ever growing city of Youngsville for a church that offered a similar experience to the Bayou. Knowing that there were great churches in Youngsville, The Bayou staff hoped that adding an additional Bayou campus would add something a little different in order to reach a population that needed to be reached. Andy Tribe, Pastor of Adult Ministries at the Bayou was asked to launch the new campus in Youngsville. Andy already had a Small Group meeting in his home and his group was to be the core team to launch the campus.
February 7, 2010, meeting in Ascension High School gym, the day the New Orleans Saints won the Super Bowl, The Bayou Church, Youngsville Campus held it’s first service. 70 people attended.
For over 5 years, the Youngsville campus grew into a very healthy church. By 2014, over 200 people were attending. As a result of the healthy growth of the church, in August of 2014, the leadership of the Bayou began praying about releasing the Youngsville campus to become an independent church.
The work began to separate from the Bayou “mother” church, and become something new for the community. Over several months, Pastor Andy Tribe and leaders met, discussed, prayed, came together and Youngsville Community Church (YCC) was born. Fast forward to January 2015; in a building that was given by Church Without Walls, Youngsville Community had it’s first service with over 400 in attendance.
What began as a multi-site campus of The Bayou Church in Lafayette, Youngsville Community Church’s mission is to be a place where all can discover what real community is. Coining the hashtag #discovercommunitytogether. The vision of Youngsville Community is based from Matthew 28:19 and that is to meet the spiritual needs of the community and share and spread the love of Christ. Our mission is to lead people to put God first.
